Dr. Goher Irani recounts her life with Meher Baba, starting from her childhood when Baba visited her family in Quetta. She describes her close relationship with Baba, who guided her to become a doctor and later brought her to live with Him permanently. Dr. Irani shares her experiences during Baba’s New Life journey, where she was chosen as one of the four women to accompany Him. Baba, despite being the Avatar, experienced physical illnesses and pain throughout his life, often due to fasting and strenuous work. He would become seriously ill before large darshan programs, only to appear radiant and healthy during the events. His doctors, including Dr. Goher, struggled to alleviate his suffering, as Baba prioritized His work over His health. Meher Baba experienced various physical ailments, including neuralgic pain, eye inflammation, and muscular spasms. Despite the pain, Baba remained calm and patient, often downplaying His symptoms to doctors. This led to frustration for Goher, who felt helpless and unsure about how to best care for Baba, especially when doctors doubted the severity of His condition.
