1. Bill reads from his book, “Not We, but One; Meher Baba on Life, Living and Love”
-
Bill Le Page discusses his book, “Not We but One, Meher Baba on Life, Living and Love,” which aims to introduce Meher Baba to a wider audience. The book features Eruch’s commentary on everyday life questions, presented in a simple and accessible manner. Bill also shares a story from his upcoming book, “It So Happened,” about Meher Baba’s encounter with an old man and child on a train, highlighting Baba’s compassion and hidden work. An old man, unaware that Meher Baba was sitting beside him on a train, lamented his inability to see Baba despite his visits to Ahmednagar. Baba instructed a disciple to inform the man that Baba had been with him and to give him a blessed photo. The disciple delivered the message and photo, and the old man was overjoyed to see Baba bless him as the train departed. A sculptor, Shirazi, requested the hand of the princess, Rahina, in marriage from the Emperor as a result of a spectacular sculpting feat that he had done. The Emperor was bound by his word to do it, but the Emperor and Empress were displeased. To avoid giving Rahina to the sculptor, the Emperor asked him to design a monument for the Empress, but the sculptor’s grief over Rahina’s death prevented him from creating a satisfactory design. A mother seeks the Prophet Mohammed’s help to stop her son from eating too many green dates. The Prophet advises the child to limit his date consumption, but only after abstaining from dates himself for a month to demonstrate the importance of his advice. This story highlights the impact of living by the principles one advocates. A man visits Rabia, a renowned beauty, in a brothel, expecting to indulge in her allure. However, he is captivated by her devotion and purity as she prays for hours. Rabia reveals her true purpose: to use her beauty as a tool to guide others towards understanding true beauty and love, urging the man to keep their encounter a secret.
