Bili Eaton recounts her experiences with Meher Baba, highlighting the intense energy and spiritual demands of being close to Him. She shares anecdotes about Baba’s orders, including a specific prayer practice and a special instruction to repeat a mantra for five nights. Eaton also describes a memorable encounter during the East-West Sahavas, where Baba’s presence brought about a sudden rainstorm and a miraculous parting of the crowd, allowing her to briefly touch His hand. Bili recounts a 1962 Sahavas with Meher Baba, where they were allowed to see Baba alone and delivered a message. Later, Bili sent Baba’s books to Malcolm Muggeridge after reading his article, unknowingly contributing to Baba’s name being mentioned on TV in England. During a 1979 visit to Baba’s tomb, Bili experienced a moment of divine intervention during an Arti ceremony, realizing Baba’s presence and dispelling their prejudices. Bili recounts a lesson learned from Meher Baba about accepting and participating in ceremonies, even if they seem unnecessary. She also shares a story about a chance encounter with a woman named Mayred, who expressed interest in Meher Baba after Bili mentioned Him. She reflects on the importance of living out one’s karma and being ready to meet Meher Baba, acknowledging that their own life experiences prepared them for this connection. Bili recounts how a group formed around their interest in Meher Baba, but eventually dissolved. Despite this, Bili emphasizes the importance of loving Baba and thinking of Him as a way to create a link and foster love. Bili believes that this love, nurtured through constant remembrance, will lead to a deeper connection with Baba and ultimately, liberation.
