Adele Wolkin recounts her introduction to Meher Baba through her friend Filis, who sparked her interest in Eastern philosophy. Adele attended a talk by Norina Matchabelli, a disciple of Meher Baba, and was captivated by the spiritual atmosphere. This experience led her to explore Eastern thought further and eventually meet Meher Baba herself. Adele recounts the arrival of Meher Baba in the United States in 1952, describing the secrecy surrounding his arrival and the awe she felt witnessing him and his companions. She later describes meeting Baba for the first time at the Center in Myrtle Beach, where she felt a deep connection to him as both a mother and father figure. Adele also mentions the significant role Norina Matchabelli played in spreading the word about Baba’s arrival in America.
