Ishtiake is a ghazal written by Meher Baba in the Gujarati language in His early days.

Ishtiaakay showk jub hudd say siva ho jaayegaa (2X)

Saamanay aankho kay voh julvaa numa ho jaayegaa

Kya kahoon ai dil khudi ko kar tu kya ho jaayegaa (2X)

Vaasilay huk hogaa bunday sey Khuda ho jaayegaa (2X)

Kaano may aa kar kay woh kahaygaye mujhey purdey ki bat (2X)

Main teraa ho jaaungaa jab tu meraa ho jaayegaa (2X)

Ishtiaakay showk jub hudd say siva ho jaayegaa

When your passion for God becomes intense beyond limit, You will see His glory right in front of your eyes.

What can I tell you about what you will become when you lose your ego? You yourself, the lover, will become the Beloved.

He whispered in my ear the secret beyond the veil: I will become all yours when you become all Mine

In that instant when your obsession for God goes beyond all limits

You will see His glory right in front of your eyes

How can I tell you heart, what you will become when you lose the ego?

You yourself, the lover, will become the Beloved.

He came and whispered in my ear the secret behind the veil,

"I will become all yours when you become all mine."

Khorshed Irani was one of Meher Baba's earliest and closest women disciples. She first saw Meher Baba in 1922 when she was just twelve years old. The following year Baba introduced her to Mehera J. Irani, His Beloved, and they immediately became best friends. She was one of the few mandali at the end of the twentieth century who remembered Baba’s indescribably beautiful speaking and singing voice.

Her life with the Avatar was extraordinary and filled with intense challenges and hardships. As Khorshed said, “Our life with Baba had everything – fun, trouble, and love.” Her single-pointed love, dedication, and obedience to Meher Baba, through thick and thin, as well as her inner strength and motivation to be near Him, distinguishes Khorshed as one of the great souls who served the Avatar of the Age.
