A slave, feeling the unfairness of his life, becomes obsessed with the name Mohammed after overhearing it. He learns about Mohammed’s teachings of equality and justice, which resonate deeply with him. The slave’s work deteriorates as he becomes increasingly consumed by thoughts of Mohammed, imagining Him as a warrior fighting for righteousness. The slave, inspired by a revelation that he belongs to Mohammed, travels across the desert to Medina. Mohammed, impressed by the slave’s devotion, sends him back to his master, instructing him to serve his master as if serving Mohammed. Mohammed explains to his followers that the slave’s love is genuine but he is not yet ready to handle the “sword of righteousness.” The slave, devoted to serving his master, strives to emulate the love and service he experienced with Mohammed. His dedication transforms the master’s household, improving conditions for all. As the slave ages, he becomes consumed with the pursuit of love, ultimately realizing that true love transcends justice and righteousness. Upon hearing of the Prophet Mohammed’s death, the slave rushes to pay his respects. He is denied entry to see the Prophet’s body, causing him great distress. Later, he learns from Ali that the Prophet’s love for him was so great that seeing him would have disrupted the Prophet’s spiritual journey.
