The phrase “Don’t worry, be happy” is not an injunction from Baba, but rather an assurance from Him. Baba, as the author of the novel of life, knows the end and wants us to experience all moments, dedicating them to Him.

Eruch Jessawala recounts a story about a man who came for Meher Baba’s darshan and was humiliated by Eruch, who was later praised by Baba for his actions. Eruch reflects on his role as Baba’s personal attendant, emphasizing that everything he did was at Baba’s behest and that Baba allowed him to feel useful. He also discusses Baba’s seclusion and the New Life, highlighting the true freedom and happiness found in surrendering to Baba’s will. Eruch recounts a humorous and poignant episode from his life. After returning from the New Life, his fiancée’s father, disillusioned by the long engagement, threw away Baba’s picture. Eruch, seeking to preserve the man’s faith, asked Baba for permission to marry, which Baba granted, arranging a wedding for Eruch and his sister on the same day. A woman who purchased the Jessawala’s estate returned years later, feeling remorseful for lying about the transaction. She offered Eruch’s family the remaining balance of the purchase price, which was accepted on behalf of Baba and she was instructed to donate the money. Later, Baba told Eruch to go on a speaking tour about Baba, despite Eruch’s reservations about public speaking.
